Apple’s Time Machine saves the day

Posted by: Steven | Comments Comments Off

I was playing with self signed certificates a couple of days ago, but instead of creating a new certificate, it over wrote my current self signed certtificate, even though I gave it a new name it trashed the original one.  I was tinkering with the certs to work with the mail system, I said that, I’ll work on it later and backed out the changes (not knowing the cert was overwritten).  All was well, until I applied an update to the server and had it rebooted, but the apache http server wanted it and failed to startup without it, even if I don’t use https.  Grrrr.. Started to look at the Time Machine’s screens, but the search function doesn’t look in the /etc directory.  I opened a terminal window and scanned the Time Machine’s disk and found a backup copy of the certificate and copied the Default certificate back to it’s rightful location.

New widgets to play with.

Posted by: Steven | Comments Comments Off

Trying a new widget that displays Amazon.com products. It’s seems pretty nice at first glance, but I’m sure the widget will improve over time. It would be nice to have it randomize from a list.  Perhaps I should get it working correctly as well.

Upgrade to Revolution Magazine version 3.0

Posted by: Steven | Comments Comments Off

Upgraded to Revolution Magazine 3.0.  It’s been out for a couple of weeks now, but wanted to wait and read the support forums to see the feedback on any possible problems with the installation.  Looks nice.  It handles Adsense type ads much better then the plugin that I was using (which is now removed).  Does not support Yahoo ads which would have been a nice feature.  Modified the code to remove a thumbnail feature that I didn’t really what.  Made a couple of changes in the layout/order of the postings.
